Privacy Policy.

Last updated October 28, 2026.

This policy explains what personal information the Chinatown Transformation Collaborative Society of Edmonton (CTC) collects through its websites, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It covers ctcyeg.ca and Explore Chinatown Edmonton at explorechinatownyeg.com, which CTC runs with the Edmonton Chinatown BIA.

Questions or requests about your information: email info@ctcyeg.com, call +1 (587) 858-2627, or write to CTC Storytelling Centre, 10601 97 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5H 2L5.

Website Forms

Our forms include Contact, Share Your Story, Volunteer, Become a Partner, Submit an Event, Vendor Applications, Sponsorship, For Businesses, Pandy visit requests, Pandy tips, Media requests and Dining Week. They ask for your first name, last name and email, plus the details that form needs, such as a phone number, your organization, dates or a message.

We use this information only to read and answer your submission and to run the program you asked about. Submissions are saved in CTC's Google Workspace account (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) and emailed to the CTC team that handles them. Vendor, volunteer and sponsorship forms for the Chinatown Summer Festival or Lunar New Year go to the Edmonton Chinatown BIA, which runs those festivals, with a copy to CTC.

If our form service is not reachable, the form opens your own email app with your answers filled in, and nothing is sent until you press send.

Chinatown Stories

When you share a story, we ask for your consent to publish it and its photo on our websites and to translate it. You choose the name shown. A story is published only after a team member reviews it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing info@ctcyeg.com.

Chinatown News

When you sign up for Chinatown News on either website, we collect your first name, last name and email. Both websites use one shared list, kept in Squarespace Email Campaigns. We use it to send news about Chinatown, CTC's work, events and ways to help. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

We may send you marketing emails, which you can unsubscribe from by clicking the link at the bottom of the email. We share your contact information with Squarespace, Mailchimp and Google Workspace so they can send these emails on our behalf.

Donations and Tickets

Donations and tickets for tours and events, such as Dragon Food Tours and Shanghai Night, are processed by Zeffy. Zeffy collects your name, email, payment details and any information its form asks for, and shares your gift or order details with CTC. You can read Zeffy's privacy policy at https://docs.simplyk.io/legal/english/privacy-policy. CTC is a non-profit society, not a registered charity, so gifts receive a payment confirmation, not a tax receipt.

Store and Memberships

When you buy something or a membership on ctcyeg.ca, we collect the information needed to fulfil it, which may include your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping address, and details about your purchase or subscription. We share this with Squarespace, our website and online store host, so it can provide those services.

We use Squarespace Payments, which uses Stripe for payment processing (https://stripe.com/privacy) and Sift for fraud monitoring (https://sift.com/service-privacy). Our payment processors Stripe and SERVUS Credit Union also collect payment information; see https://stripe.com/en-ca/privacy and https://servus.ca/privacy.

At checkout, the site may suggest your address by sharing what you type with the Google Places API.

If you enter your email at checkout or are signed in, add an in-stock product to your cart and leave without buying, you will receive one automated email within 24 hours linking back to your cart. You can unsubscribe at the bottom of that email.

We also email you about your order or account, for example when you create an account, reset a password, make a purchase or when an order ships. These messages are needed for your order, so you cannot unsubscribe from them. Squarespace sends them on our behalf.

Analytics and Cookies

Our websites collect information to understand site traffic, including your browser, network and device, the page you came from, your IP address, and how you use the site (clicks, internal links, pages visited, scrolling, searches and times). We share this with Squarespace, our analytics provider, and with Churchill Strategy, which designs and manages our websites, to learn about site traffic and activity.

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies. Functional and required cookies are always used so Squarespace can serve the site securely. Analytics and performance cookies are used only after you accept them in our cookie banner. For details, see Squarespace's cookie policy.

Squarespace, which hosts both websites, also collects your browser, network and device information, the pages you view and your IP address to run and protect its platform. It analyzes this data in a de-personalized form.

Other Services on Our Pages

  • Maps: the Chinatown maps load map images from OpenStreetMap, so your browser shares your IP address with OpenStreetMap's servers.

  • Fonts and icons: pages load fonts and icons from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.

  • News, events and translations: news, events, maps, stories and translations are loaded from CTC's Google Apps Script. It does not collect personal information from you.

  • Share buttons and social links: if you use a share button or follow a link to Facebook, Instagram or X (Twitter), those services may receive your browser and device information, your IP address and details of what you shared.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Unsubscribe from Chinatown News at any time from any email.

  • Ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove a published story.
