Collaborative Governance for Collective Well-being.

Bringing together 13 stakeholder groups to advocate for data-driven safety solutions and social service deconcentration.

The Chinatown Safety Council serves as the definitive governing body for the district's well-being. This table brings together 13 stakeholder groups, including REACH Edmonton, the Chinatown BIA, EPS, Boyle Street Community Services, and the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA), to address complex social challenges.

The Safety Audit Engine

We don't guess; we document. Through quarterly safety audits, the Chinatown Safety Council identifies "hot spots" in the built environment—areas that require secondary power for lanterns, improved waste management, or remediation of problem properties. Our advocacy is rooted in the City Plan, ensuring Chinatown remains a priority in municipal operating budgets and provincial safety discussions. By monitoring findings—such as the targeted outreach required at key transit nodes—we ensure that enforcement and outreach are deployed where they are needed most.

The Council represents a 'Ripple Effect'—safe streets lead to thriving businesses, which lead to a vibrant city for everyone!
